After a full and remarkable life, Doris Fetzer Campbell, 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 31, 2024. A lifelong lover of learning, Doris initially obtained her degree in nursing after graduating high school. In her 40s, she returned to college to obtain her master’s degree in nursing and nurse practitioner accreditation. As a professor at the University of Texas School of Nursing at Galveston, she taught public health for over 30 years. Her desire to educate went beyond the classroom, teaching healthy lifestyle habits through home health visits in underserved communities. She had several dogs throughout her life, that gave her great joy & companionship.
Out of all of Doris’s accomplishments and hobbies, she cherished her family the most, always letting them know how much they were loved. Doris and her husband, Charles, took their children on many camping trips throughout the United States and Canada. Once her children were grown, she and Charles pursued international travel, biked, played bridge, visited with friends & family, and participated in Bible studies. When her husband was ill, she devoted herself to taking care of him.
She will be immensely missed and we will be reminded of her often.
Doris is predeceased by her husband of 53 years Charles Campbell. She is survived by her four children Carol (Steve) Shores, Charles (Chrissy) Campbell, Richard (Estela) Campbell and Margaret (Lawrence) Wagner; grandchildren Christopher (Yaritza) Shores, Michelle (Kenn) Steen, Julie (Greg) Jones, Will (Sarah) Wagner and Richard G. (Stephanie) Aguilar, James (Brittny) Aguilar and Elizabeth (Mike) Allen; and great grandchildren Gavin Steen, Logan Shores, Chloe Shores, Mila Allen, and Autumn Aguilar; nieces and nephews Robert Campbell, Jr., Bruce ( Mary Jo) Campbell, Cynthia Campbell, and Val (Robert) Langer and grandniece Alexa (Andrew) Franz and grandnephew Julian Campbell.
