On January 1st, 2019, I set out for a year-long adventure across America. My goal was to visit all 418 units of the National Park System, before the end of the year.

The journey was personal for me, but also public; as I shared my experiences, my photos and stories through social media and on the 418 Parks website. Your comments and words of encouragement meant a great deal to me and helped to make this journey much more meaningful.

Throughout the year, I have learned the story of America. I have seen her beautiful places, her breathtaking wildlife and wilderness. I have done my best to share this experience with you, and I hope you have enjoyed following along. I hope you have also learned about the American story. I hope you have been awed by the beauty of the parks, as I have. I hope my journey has inspired you to travel, and to explore these remarkable places. The experience has been valuable to me, and I hope it has been valuable to you as well.

Now that my journey is nearing its end, I'm asking you to join me in supporting the National Park Foundation. The National Park Foundation protects America's special places. It connects people to nature, and inspires the next generation of park stewards. They depend on the support from private citizens like you and me to make sure the organization's mission continues. During my time in the parks this year, I have seen firsthand the important work this organization does.

Please join me in making a donation before the end of my journey on New Year's Eve. I pledge to match every dollar donated by the end of the year, up to $5,000. Any amount you can give will help, and all money donated will go directly to the National Park Foundation.
