Mary Louise (Molly Lou/Molly) Husted Rosa Balazs Chedester
Growing up in the small town of West Branch, MI, Molly learned about cold weather, hard work and independence at an early age. She embraced these qualities throughout her life. Her childhood joy and lifelong passions were playing the piano and dancing. She excelled in both and was happiest when the family sang and danced to her music at the piano. Molly graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1944 and attended the University of Michigan.
An early marriage to Brent Rosa brought her first two children, Brent (Skip) and James (Terry). Her marriage to Dan Balazs brought three daughters, Amanda, Mary (Mimi) and Elizabeth. Molly’s career with the US Government was very rewarding; her longest assignment was with the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation, later part of the US National Park Service. She visited many state and national parks and made many friends along the way. Molly enjoyed traveling to visit her five children and their families, as well as visiting several European countries. Singing with the Sweet Adelines of Ann Arbor, MI and later acting with the Grande Olde Players Theatre Company of Omaha, NE, were favorite retirement projects. She enjoyed reading several newspapers each day as well as all forms of literature.
She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings and first two husbands. She is survived by her husband John (Jack) Chedester, her children Brent (Skip)(Connie) Balazs, James (Terry) (Kathy) Balazs, Amanda (Todd) Murphy, Mary (Mimi) Balazs-Shellito (John (Jack) Shellito), and Elizabeth Balazs-Foxall (Pitmon Foxall III); 12 grandchildren: 22 great- grandchildren and her beloved dog Beau, who was at her side until the end. If you would like to donate in Molly's memory, please consider a contribution to the US National Park Service or your local library.
According to Molly’s wishes, cremation has occurred and there will be no formal services. Molly requested red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, champagne and lots of dancing at any memorial for her. A family gathering will be held at a later date.
